Before I say anything else, let me make it clear: no one dies in this video.
It’s gonna look like the ocean is going to reach out, grab a person, and drag them, helpless, into the sea. It’ll look like that because that actually happens, and it’s pretty scary.
No idea how these people didn’t die, but an older couple, in their 70s apparently, was watching a storm roll in over the ocean. They decided to watch from the shore, right along the edge of the ocean in Portsall, North Finistère, in France.
That was their first mistake. The sea is a fickle beast, and just because the waves were all breaking at the same spot, doesn’t mean a sneaker wave couldn’t roll up and catch you off guard.
That’s actually exactly what happened. A situation like this is where the phrase, “Never turn your back on the ocean,” comes from. This couple was even facing the ocean, but was just wholly unprepared when a huge wave rolled up out of nowhere.
Just watching how powerless they are to stop the sea from sucking them in is pretty terrifying. Humans are tiny and the ocean is huge; I’m never going to the beach again.
I like watching storms as much as the next person (probably even more), but I know better than to just hangout that close to the raging sea. Thankfully, bystanders were there to help them, so they survived their ordeal. Check out the terrifying video:
