Ah Monopoly! The game that teaches both financial responsibility and how to brutally fight with your family over fictional money. Seriously, it feels like any time you Google Monopoly in the news there's a recent fight. It's so prevalent a Monopoly fight was even a major plot point in The Sopranos.
Money is gone, and feast your eyes on this sexy, re-designed board. Black is cool for 2016!

At the 2016 Toy Fair, Hasbro unveiled the Monopoly: Ultimate Banking edition. The idea of cash-less Monopoly isn't quite new, as Hasbro previously attempted to include an electronic bank. Players had to type in the numbers every time, and that was tedious. Now, every property and associated cost has a scannable code that you simply place up against a reader.
Does this teach kids (and competitive adults) more about managing your money in 2016? As we generally use digital means to store our assets, is it better to be aware of the importance of dwindling numbers on a screen or cash in your hand? Arguably its an improvement right? Or it will at least make the game move faster and eliminate the need for a banker.
Check out this Vine from Mashable at the Toy Fair to see it in action!

Today reports that some parents are worried this will diminish their childrens' ability to deal with cash and even just to count. If Monopoly is what's teaching your children to count, you've got a bit of an issue. Still others said now that there's no cash they can't cheat. The best, and most relevant answer though, seems to be that it will be way easier to clean up when someone flips the board after they lose.
