The California Public Utilities Commission fined Uber $7.6 million for not meeting the agency’s reporting requirements.
Uber was given 30 days to pay the penalty. If they fail to meet the deadline, its operating license will be suspended in California.
CPUC reports that Uber failed to provide enough information on the company’s drivers and riders.
Laura Zapata, Uber spokeswoman, said the company would pay the fine, but would take the case to the California Court of Appeals to dispute the matter.
“While we are disappointed by the decision, we look forward to making our case to the California Court of Appeals," Zapata said. _"In the meantime, we will pay the fine and continue to work in good faith with the Commission.”_
